Dr Stavros PolyKarpou

    Dr Stavros Polykarpou is Lecturer in Digital Innovation and Information Systems at the School of Business and Management, Royal Holloway, University of London. He holds an M.Phil. and PhD from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, awarded through a competitive ESRC Studentship, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice with Distinction from the University of Exeter and was awarded the ASPIRE Fellowship for excellence in research-led teaching.

    His interdisciplinary research lies at the intersection of digital innovation, information systems, and organisation studies, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence, digital transformation, emerging technologies, the future of work, healthcare information systems, and platform ecosystems. His work has been published in leading international journals, including Information Systems Research and Information and Organization, and has received international recognition, including the Academy of Management (OCIS Division) Best Paper Award for research on digital innovation in healthcare.

    Dr Polykarpou has extensive experience leading digital innovation initiatives within the UK National Health Service (NHS), collaborating with industry and government partners to translate research into practical impact. His expertise spans qualitative and mixed-methods research, including ethnographic, comparative case study, and process-based approaches, alongside quantitative and algorithmic analyses.

    He is actively engaged in doctoral supervision and research collaborations, with interests in AI-enabled organisations, digital innovation, healthcare information systems, algorithmic technologies, and new forms of value creation in the digital economy.
