Georgios Lekakos is a Professor in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where he also serves as Director of the MSc in Management Science and Technology and Director of the MSc in AI for Digital Transformation. He holds a Ph.D. in Machine Learning from AUEB (2004), an M.Sc. in Advanced Methods in Computer Science from Queen Mary College, University of London (1992), and a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1991).
From 2020 to 2024, he served as Vice Rector of Research and Life-long Learning at AUEB and concurrently as President of the AUEB Research Center — overseeing annual R&D assets exceeding €30 million — and as President of the Lifelong and e-Learning Center. He has led numerous EU-funded and nationally funded research and consulting projects in collaboration with leading public and private sector organisations. His research has received over 6,000 citations on Google Scholar (h-index: 32).
