Dr. Vasileios Zeimpekis is an Associate Professor in the Department of Financial and Management Engineering Economics at the School of Engineering of the University of the Aegean. He is also Deputy Director of the Laboratory of Planning, Production, and Operations (SYSPAL) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Logistics Association (a scientific body for logistics in Greece). Additionally, he serves as a member of the National Council for Competitiveness and Logistics Development. He has been a member of the Greek Open University’s Teaching and Research Staff (SEP) in Business Administration (DEO11) since 2013 and has previously taught at a number of higher education institutions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2024, Dr. Zeibekis was selected as one of the world’s most influential figures shaping the future of road transport. This recognition was awarded by the International Road Transport Union (IRU), headquartered in Brussels. Dr. Zeibekis conducts research on topics related to supply chain management, with an emphasis on logistics process management and decision-making systems. He has edited seven international edited volumes on supply chain management and has published over 100 articles in academic journals, at international conferences, and in edited volumes.
He serves on the editorial boards of scientific journals, has served as guest editor for two special issues, and has also served as a member of organizing and scientific committees at international and national conferences. Over the past 22 years, he has actively contributed to the implementation of more than 50 research projects, while also serving as an instructor in executive training seminars at public and private organizations. Dr. V. Zeibekis has also served as a research associate and consultant in both the private and public sectors and has implemented more than 350 private and development projects in the fields of logistics and information systems. In addition, he has served as an external consultant on transportation issues for the United Nations (UNECE) and the World Bank. He serves as an evaluator for research and investment programs of the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) and the European Union (DG MOVE).
He holds a degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering (with a specialization in Telecommunications) from the University of Essex, along with a master’s degree in Mobile & Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Warwick. He completed his doctoral dissertation at the Department of Management Science & Technology at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), the Economic Chamber of Greece (OEE), and the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI).
