Dr. Anastasia Constantelou is Professor of Innovation Management at the University of the Aegean, Department of Financial and Management Engineering. She is a graduate of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and holds a Master's degree in Technology and Innovation Management and a PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies from the University of Sussex, UK. Prior to her academic appointment, she served as a consultant to the OECD Science, Technology and Industry Directorate. Prof. Constantelou has been a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Industrial and Energy Economics (LIEE), and the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCP), both at the National Technical University of Athens. She has significant research experience as a leader or participant in national and European research projects.
During her academic career, she has been a visiting researcher at the IKU Innovation Research Center, the Academy of Sciences in Budapest, the Department of Technology Policy and Management at TU Delft in the Netherlands, the Department of Information Management at Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Aalto University in Finland, and the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) in Germany.
Her research interests focus on the strategic management of scientific and technological knowledge and innovation, both at the corporate level and at the level of institutions responsible for shaping research policy at the national and regional levels. His research has focused on the flows of scientific and technological knowledge among organisations, the diffusion and utilization of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for their application in the development of innovative e-business. Her current research interests focus on the following areas:
- Reform and Innovation in the Public Sector.
- Entrepreneurship, Creativity, and ICT: Designing support policies and educational practices for innovation in the creative industries.
- Organizational learning and the development of dynamic capabilities in public management bodies within the framework of the Smart Specialization Strategy (Smart Specialization Strategy)
Prof. Constantelou has served in the Program Committee of the annual European Communications Policy Research Conference (EuroCPR) (2007-2016). She is also a regular member of the Scientific Committee of the International Association for Information Systems (IADIS) and the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (EAEPE). Since 2017, he has served on the Editorial Board of the academic journal Electronic Markets (Springer Verlag), and since January 2021, he has been an Associate Editor for the same journal. Since April 2026, he has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Strategic Information Systems (JSIS).
Prof. Constantelou has published extensively in prestigious academic journals and has given numerous presentations at international conferences.
